Years on senior team? 8 years on National team.
When/where/why did you begin the sport? 1997 - My dad (Andrew Marczak) was a Polish champion back in his junior years and he wanted to show me what canoeing was. After a few months I started to practice more and more with dad by my side. At first it was recreational - Father and son time and eventually after half a year I decided to train and compete.
Greatest sporting achievement? 2002 World Championships in Seville - C2 200m B Final - winning this event first year out of juniors.
Goal for 2013? Taking year off, and focusing on endurance and improving my technique.
Greatest influence on your career? My family has been my greatest motivation and support. My wife and two boys cheering me on as I'm racing and having their support means a lot to me.
What keeps you busy outside of the sport? I have two boys 5yrs and 3yrs. All my time is dedicated to my family outside of canoeing.
Which athlete do you fear/respect the most? Andreas Dittmer
Who inspires you? My family is the biggest support and inspiration. I enjoy it when my two boys get down on one knee and start paddling.
What is your favourite Olympic memory? This will be my first Olympics and I’m looking forward to bringing back many memories
Favourite course? Duisburg, Germany.
Education/Employment? Bachelor of Health Science (PDHPE) and Diploma in Recreation of Fitness. I run my own business - Installation of vinyl.
