When/Where/Why did you begin kayaking? With John Newtown at PBC High School when I was 13 because I was getting sick of playing Rugby League.
Greatest Sporting Achievement? 2011, 2012 Australian Taplin Relay Champions (Northcliffe), 2012 Australian ski relay champions, 2012 Oceania K1 200m champion, Australian K4 1000m champions 2010, 35.05 for K1 200m at Szeged 2011, qualified an Olympic quota place for Australia for the London Olympics.
What are your future goals? Paddle faster and improve my technique.
What keeps you busy outside of Kayaking? Work as an Exercise Physiologist, and play a lot of music.
Greatest Influence on Career? Pat O’Keefe, Nick Crilly, Tate Smith, Grant Davies and Vince Fehervari.
Who inspires you? Kev Morrison - “he saved Aaron Murphy’s life by pulling him out of the water after he passed out at ski training”, he is a real hero.
Athlete you respect/fear the most? In our sport, Murray Stewart, unbelievable composure and ability to make it count when it has to.
If you were not a Kayaker what would you be? A lot smarter, or potentially what I am now only not a kayaker.
Favourite Australian Personality? The actor from the TV show “Rake”, he also starred in Sanctum. Although I do enjoy Joe Hockey and would love to meet him.
Superstitions before a race? Listen to music.
Education/Employment? Undergraduate in exercise science, post graduate accreditation in exercise physiology, Masters of Business Administration. I am a partner in Safe and Healthy People, we are a combination of exercise physiology, physiotherapy, dietetics and primarily work with people suffering from chronic disease.
