AC staff to complete Anti-Doping statutory declaration.
Earlier this year, the Federal Minister for Sport and Minister for Justice released the Australian Crime Commission’s (ACC) report “Organised Crime and Drugs in Sport.” The report revealed that unfortunately it is a reality that sports can never be complacent about the incentives for cheating and corruption.
AC advised ASADA that we would assist in every way with their investigations and encouraged those with knowledge of current or previous engagement in doping activities to make contact with ASADA as a matter of urgency.
In addition, the Board of Australian Canoeing has resolved that members of the Board, Technical Committees and AC staff are to complete a statutory declaration stipulating that they have not at any time breached an ‘applicable Anti-Doping Rule or Policy’.
AC has advised state member associations of the decision and encourages them to apply similar measures.
This initiative demonstrates proactive national leadership in striving to achieve the highest possible standards of integrity in sports.
Our commitment to anti-doping is a fundamental core value of AC which is a clear principle of the Australian Sports Commission’s Winning Edge strategy.
