19 year old Jessica Fox went one better than her silver medal performance in Cardiff last weekend to win Gold in the womens C1 final at ICF World Cup 2 in Augsburg, Germany overnight.
The 2012 Olympic K1 silver medallist headed into the final in red-hot form after producing the quickest semifinal time earlier in the day.
It was a polished performance by Fox who outlasted the nerves as the last paddler to attack the course in the final to win in 132.69 despite two gate touches.
Great Britain paddler Mallory Franklin finished second 2.37 seconds behind Fox with fellow countrywomen and Cardiff World Cup winner Kimberley Woods finishing third.
NSWIS pair Rosalyn Lawrence and Alison Borrows also reached the final finishing sixth and ninth respectively.
Earlier in the day Penrith Valley duo Lucien Delfour and Joey Croft finished 16th and 39th respectively in the men’s K1 semifinal.
German duo Paul Boeckelmann and Sebastian Schubert used their local paddling knowledge to their advantage in the final producing a one-two for their home fans with Boeckelmann winning the gold in 97.59.
In somewhat of an upset world number 57 Mathieu Biazizzo of France finished third.
The men’s C1 final was dominated by Slovakian canoeists with Alexander Slafkovsky edging Matej Benus for the gold. Local favourite Sideris Tasiadis finished third.
Western Australian Robin Jeffery was the best placed Australian finishing 26th in the semifinal.
In the afternoon session the Team Boat finals were contested with Australia finishing tenth in C1M and 12th in K1M.
There is still plenty of racing to come on Sunday with the women's K1 and men's C2 semifinals and finals to be raced.
