Our two female competitors were in action in the woman's K1 classic. In the field of 11 Maddie Batters finished 8th in a time of 14:59 and Kristy Packham finished 9th in a time of 15:12. The winner was Manuela Stoeberl from Germany in a time of 14:20 followed by Deberah Fogel of Germany (14:25) and 3rd place went to Chantal Abgottspon (14:31)
Our three Australian K1 males were in action in the field of 38 competitors. Rob McIntyre was the best of the Australians with a fine 11th place in a time of 13:38. Rob says that this result for a classic race exceeded his personal expectations given that he considers himself more of a sprint racer.
Tom Mountney was the next best Australian in 22nd place in a time of 13:47. Alex McIntyre was 26th (13:52) The overall winner was Kamil Mruzek from the Czech Republic in a time of 13:11 followed by Gerhard Schmid from Austria (13:18) Simon Oven from Slovenia rounded out 3rd place with a time of 13:20.
