German/Swisse national wildwater championships
After Rob McIntyre's disappointing start to his European tour at the European Championships where he made a number of errors and was effectively ranked down the field, he bounced back last weekend at the combined German, Swiss and Luxenburg National Championships with some good results, especially in the Sprint race.
The event was held in Switzerland and was well represented with thirty nine competitors in the open men's K1 including a number of other nations such as Belguim and the Netherlands. Saturday saw the sprint races commence and after the first run the young Australian was placed 3rd. The second run saw a number of the top German paddlers improve on their first runs and Robertwas bumped down to 7th place. He was however delighted with this result, finishing ahead of all nations other than the 6 Germans who headed him.
On the Sunday the Classic race was contested by the full field of thirty nine and Robert finished a credible 13th place.
This weekend will see a sprint series on the Eiskanal in Augsburg Germany, the site of the World Wildwater Sprint Championships 2 years ago.
