Bendigo's Rebecca Mann has taken another step towards her Olympic dream, winning the women's Under 18 500 metre kayak final at the national titles in Perth.
The lonely months of training on the shallow waters of Lake Weeroona paid off in windy conditions for the 17-year-old.
Mann was one of only a very small number of Victorians competing in Perth.
"There's not many competitions for me," Mann said.
"Our Victorian State titles got cancelled because there wasn't enough people."
Mann began kayaking after a doctor recommended her father take up paddling to deal with bad knees. He dragged her down to paddle with her.
Her dad's knees haven't improved much, but Mann's long-term international prospects have.
"Obviously I want to make the Olympics one day, and the world championships," she said.
