Oppressive conditions wreaked havoc with the final day of the second Grand Prix on Australian Canoeing’s calendar, with many events cancelled and several of the sport’s biggest names opting to withdraw.

With the mercury once again hovering around the boiling point, Alyssa Bull proved too strong for her K2 500 teammate, Alyce Burnett, in one of the few senior finals to be contested on Sunday.

Bull took gold in the K1 1000 by almost four seconds.

Sydney’s Simon McTavish took out the men’s K1 500, ahead of South Australian pair Sean Lohse and Reece Bacchus, and then teamed up with NSW’s Sam Djodan to win the men’s K2 500.

In para-canoe, Rio bronze medallist Susan Seipel took out the gold in the women’s multi-class V1 500.
