Lucien Delfour has gotten off to a strong start on the opening day of the Olympic Test Event in Brazil overnight.
The world number three recorded the fourth fastest K1 men’s elimination time of 91.25 to advance through to Saturday’s heats.
Delfour initially posted the second fastest opening run but was too ambitious on his second run, collecting a 50 second penalty on gate two.
German Hannes Aigner recorded the fastest elimination run of 90.40, 0.20 seconds ahead of British paddler Joseph Clarke.
