Western Australian Olympian Robin Jeffery, Penrith paddler Ian Borrows and Christian Fabris of Melbourne combined to win gold in the C1M teams final.
Despite six seconds in time penalties for a gate touch on 2, the Australian trio upstaged their more fancied European challengers to win the gold in 128.53, 7.04 seconds ahead of France.
The Czech Republic edged Russia by 0.09 seconds to take home the bronze.
The win by the Australian men followed an excellent day of racing by the team in the individual events with Jessica Fox winning gold in the C1W final.
Rosalyn Lawrence also featured in the final finishing fifth. While in the men’s events William Forsythe produced a career best World Cup performance to finish sixth in the K1M final.
Forsythe also combined with U23 duo Jaxon Merritt and Daniel Watkins to finish seventh in the K1 teams final.
