Fresh from a recent mission at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi as Manager Team Services for the Canadian Olympic Committee, Bain brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in high performance sport acquired in her previous role as the Senior Program Manager at Canoe Kayak Canada.
Australian Canoeing President, Danielle Woodward, said, "Christine's exciting appointment will be a boost our national team and training centre operations and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to quality coaching and leadership heading towards the Rio Olympics and Paralympics"
National Performance Director, Richard Fox, said, "we are delighted to have Christine join our high performance team, she has a high level of international expertise in the sport and a proven ability to support and drive high performance outcomes for athletes and coaches across Olympic and Paralympic events. "Christine hits the ground running as we head into our nationals and team trials in ten days time followed by the first of our national senior team tours to Europe next month. Given her skills, experience and passion for the sport, I am sure she will have a very positive impact on our Rio campaign supporting our athletes, coaches and other performance staff", Fox added.
Bain, a former athlete and coach and now a leading administrator, said she relishes the challenge of working in the Australian sports system. "I am excited by the opportunity to learn and contribute to the future growth and success of Australian Canoeing at the world championships, the Olympics and first ever Paralympics in our sport". I strongly believe that good management in the daily training environment and in competition contributes to success at the highest levels of sport and will aim to match the athletes' dedication and passion in my every day work in this challenging role", Bain added.
