The dual Olympian teamed up with triathlete Courtney Atkinson to race for Team Red bull in the Elite Pairs category.
The duo raced across some stunning terrain which would have challenged even the most experienced adventure racer with many tough running, mountain bike and kayaking legs.
“It was pretty gnarly”, said Wallace.
Racing began on Wednesday at Mole Creek before heading West through Cradle Mountain and Strahan. The trip then headed south to Mt field, the most memorable day for Wallace.
“It started with a 16km bike ride which included an 1100m elevation. At the top it was almost hands on knees stuff.”
That was followed by more running and mountain biking atop the snow-capped mountain.
“I don’t think I have run so far in my life.”
“I was absolutely spent after the fourth day, a real mental challenge.”
The final day saw the Red Bull pairing head to Hobart where they crossed the finish in fourth position overall.
Wallace will take part in pool testing at the AIS in Canberra on 17-18 December where he will trial some new equipment before shifting his attention to canoe sprint training with the Queensland State Championships in January likely to be his next racing meet.
