Tahiti is the highest, largest and most populated island in French Polynesia. The average temperature on the island ranges from 21-31°, with the wet season occurring from November to April.

Tahiti was proclaimed a colony of France in 1880. Although the Tahitian language is widely spoken, the official language of the 70% Polynesian population is French.
