Wildwater Selection Policy

The 2014 national Wildwater Championships has been brought forward to the first weekend in October this year to take advantage of snow melt on the Goobagandra River in the Snowy Mountains of NSW.  As a result entries are already open, as are team nominations. Both entries and nominations close on the 30th September. Follow the links at the bottom of this page to enter and nominate

The Goobagandra River is a beautiful alpine river feeding out of the northern part of the Kosciusko national park.  The event will be held over the 3 day long weekend from the 5th October to the 7th October and the meeting place for the races will be the Hume and Hovel Camping Reserve right beside the river.  There is a small fee from the local authority for camping at the site. Amenities include flushing toilets, hot water for cleaning and gas BBQ's making the camping quite civilised.

The program of events is as follows:

Saturday 5th October           – Free Training on the River

Sunday 6th October            – Individual Australia Rapid Sprint Championships in the morning.  Best of 2 runs to count.

                                         – Team Australian rapid Sprint Championships in the afternoon. Best of 2 Runs to Count.

Monday 7th October           – Individual Classic Australian Championships in the morning.

                                         – Teams Classic Australian Championships in the afternoon.             

With regard to the selection nomination to the senior Wildwater team the following information can be provided:

Nominations are being called for athletes wishing to be considered for selection to the Australian senior Wildwater Team to compete at next year's World Wildwater Championships both Classic and Sprint at Valtellina, Italy and subsequent World Cup events to be advised.  The world Championships will be held towards the end of June, 2014 and will comprise up to 4 Athletes per class and for world cups up to 6 Athletes will be considered based on a selection criteria soon to be announced.
