AYOF spots on the line in Adelaide

This weekend marks the first event of the canoe sprint domestic season with the Grand Prix 1 event being held in West Lakes, Adelaide from Friday to Sunday.

Notable senior athletes in competition will be Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Hannah Davis in the K1 events and multiple national champion Matthew Urquhart in four events, as well as the WAIS menÕs K4 team who pushed the top K4 crew all the way at the selection event last year.

However the focus will be squarely on the nationÕs junior sprint athletes who will be battling it out in selection trials for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF), to be held in Sydney in January.

The AYOF team will consist of 8 men (minimum 6 kayaks and maximum 2 canoes) and 8 women (minimum 6 kayaks and maximum 2 canoes) born between 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1998 and will be announced on the Sunday after racing is completed.
